Privacy Policy


This privacy policy (“Policy”) applies to use by you (“you” or “your”) of the LOVEVA software application, database(s), and website(s) (collectively, “Application”) on an iPhone, “smart phone,” digital tablet, personal digital assistant, or any other such mobile electronic device (“mobile device”). The Application was created on behalf of, and is provided by, Retail Alliance – Business Solutions, Inc. (“we” or “us”), a Virginia corporation that is an affiliate of Retail Merchants Association of Tidewater Virginia, Inc., also a Virginia corporation.

The Application includes a number of audio, audiovisual, visual, and textual features that enable you to participate in the LOVEVA Program, a system for rewarding consumer loyalty to local businesses. The LOVEVA Program allows you, by repeatedly visiting the establishments of merchants that participate in the LOVEVA Program and using the Application to scan into your mobile device the quick-response (“QR”) codes displayed by those merchants, to receive loyalty rewards from such merchants. The merchants that participate in the LOVEVA Program (“participating merchants”) agree to abide by this Policy to the extent that it is applicable to them.

1. What information does the Application obtain and how is it used?

Information You Provide. The Application retains the information you provide when you download and register the Application. Registration with us is mandatory to be able to use the basic features of the Application.

When you register with us and use the Application, you generally provide some or all of the following information: (a) your name, e-mail address, age, user name, password, and other registration information; (b) transaction-related information such as when you make purchases, respond to any offers, or download or use applications from us; (c) information you provide to us when you contact us for help; (d) credit-card information for purchase and use of goods and services, which may include the Application, and; (e) information you enter into our system when using the Application such as contact information and project management information (all such information, collectively, “user-provided data”). We may also use the information you provided us to contact your from time to time to provide you with important information, required notices and marketing promotions.

Information Collected from Social Media Sites. If, through the Application, you give your prior consent to such collection, the Application may collect information from and/or for social-networking platforms. Such collection may include, by way of example only and not by way of limitation, gathering from social-networking platforms your and/or others’ contact information, friends lists, login information, photos, or check-ins.

Automatically Collected Information. In addition, the Application may collect certain information automatically such as, by way of example only and not by way of limitation: the type of mobile device you use, your mobile device’s unique device identification number, the Internet Protocol (“IP”) address of your mobile device, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browsers you use, and information about the ways in which you use the Application.


2. Does the Application collect information about the location of your mobile device?

The Application collects non-precise location information such as geo-targeting (e.g., zip code or city) data.

Also, the Application collects precise information about the location of your mobile device using the location technology installed on the device and updated from time to time. We use your location information to provide requested location services and for other purposes such as, by way of example only and not by way of limitation, to allow tagging or check-in. In addition, we provide such information to participating merchants but solely for their use in connection with the LOVEVA Program.

You may at any time opt-out from allowing us to have further access to your location data by making the appropriate change to the location setting of your mobile device. For more information, please see the “opt-out” section below.


3. Do third parties see and/or have access to information obtained by the Application?

Yes. To enable you to participate in the LOVEVA Program, we may share your information with participating merchants. We may share your information with other third parties but only in the ways that are described in this privacy statement.

In addition, we may disclose user-provided and automatically collected information as required by law such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request with our trusted services providers who work on our behalf, do not have an independent use of the information that we disclose to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, you will be notified via e-mail and/or a prominent notice on our website of any change in ownership or uses of this information as well as any choices you may have regarding this information.

Automatic Data Collection and Advertising

This Application can be supported by advertising and can collect data to help the Application serve ads. We may work with analytics companies to help us understand how the Application is being used—for example, your frequency and duration of usage. Also, we may work with advertisers and third-party advertising networks that want to know how you interact with advertising provided in the Application, and our cooperation with those entities helps us to keep the cost of the Application low or even free.

Advertisers and advertising networks use some of the information collected by the Application, including, by way of example only and not by way of limitation, the unique identification number of your mobile device and your mobile telephone number. To protect the anonymity of this information, we use an encryption technology to help ensure that such third parties cannot identify you personally. Those third parties may also obtain information about other applications that you have downloaded to your mobile device, the mobile websites you visit, your non-precise location information (e.g., your zip code), and other non-precise location information to help analyze and serve anonymous targeted advertising on the Application and elsewhere. We may also share encrypted versions of information you have provided to enable our partners to append other available information about you for analysis or advertising related use.

4. What are my opt-out rights?

There are multiple opt-out options for users of this Application.

Opt-out of all information collection. You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily simply by uninstalling the Application. You can use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network.

Opt-out from the use of information to serve targeted advertising by advertisers and/or third-party network advertisers. You may at any time opt-out from further allowing us to have access to your location data by making the appropriate change to the location setting of your mobile device.

Data Retention Policy; Managing Your Information

We will retain user-provided data for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable time thereafter. If you would like for us to delete your user-provided data, whether while you are still using the Application or in the event that you uninstall it, please contact us at, and we will respond in a reasonable time. If you make such a request while you are still using the Application, please note that some or all of the user-provided data may be required for the Application to function properly. Also, please note that we may be required by law to retain certain information.

Children under the Age of 13

We do not use the Application knowingly to solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with information without the parent’s or guardian’s consent, he or she should contact us at We will delete such information from our files within a reasonable time.
